IoT Integration of MQTT via JSON Toolkit
MQTT is an essential communication protocol for the Internet of Things (IoT). Due to its unique design, it enables an efficient and reliable data exchange between a variety of components. The combination of the JSON Toolkit and the MQTT Driver (powered by Niagara) makes JACE 8000 controllers IoT-ready. The cloud-based WEBvisuPORTAL service from OAS also supports the standard IoT protocol MQTT.
The JACE 8000 controllers are IoT-capable thanks to the combination of the Niagara JSON Toolkit and the Niagara MQTT Driver. This means that the MQTT Driver implements the transport of data using the MQTT protocol, while the JSON Toolkit provides user-friendly tools for processing JSON-encoded data. In this way, MQTT-capable sensors and actuators can also be integrated directly into the Niagara Framework®.
The use of MQTT for global communication therefore also brings the following advantages for cloud-based services such as the OAS WEBvisuPORTAL:
- The OAS WEBvisuPORTAL and the MQTT broker are completely outsourced to the cloud, so no in-house servers are required.
- MQTT provides a simple and always suitable scale according to the application and customer requirements.
